Agnes Street

A complete transformation, true to its traditional roots.
The project

The brief

Home renovation design is about knowing what to keep. Agnes Street is a complete home transformation: we kept the traditional character that made this house worth saving, and reshaped everything around it into a home designed for the way a family lives today.

Design notes

Home renovation design that keeps the character

Not every home needs to be knocked down to work better. With the right home renovation design, an older house can keep the details people love, such as its street presence and its sense of age, while the plan behind it is rethought from the ground up.

At Agnes Street that meant a whole-of-home approach rather than a single extension. The before and after show how far a traditional home can be taken without losing its roots, and how much better it can work for the family living in it.

Renovations also bring constraints a new home doesn't: existing structure, existing services and the way a house already sits on its block. Good design treats those as a starting point rather than a problem, and works out early what should stay, what should go and what can be improved.

Every renovation we design is documented in full, so the builder has a clear set of drawings to price and build from. That matters as much to the finished home as the before and after.
