Designed for life

Good design shouldn't only be for a few

We believe good design should be available to everyone. It can be the difference between a beautiful home and a home that feels good to live in, every day.

A little magic in every brief, from first idea to final drawing.

What we design

Homes shaped around the way you live

New homes, knockdown rebuilds, secondary dwellings and renovations, designed and documented by the same team. Sloping blocks, big rural sites and tricky setbacks are where we do some of our best work.

Where we start

You already have the picture

Maybe it's rough. Maybe it's crystal clear. Either way, that's where we start.

Our job is turning that picture into a home you can walk into, and staying invested in it right through to the end.

A sloping block, an awkward setback or a big rural site isn't a problem to us. A hard site usually makes for a better home.

How it works

From first chat to final drawing

We work with you directly, or alongside your builder, through the whole process.

  1. Have a chat with us

Tell us about your site, your budget and what the home needs to do for you. We then send a tailored proposal.

  2. Concept design

Your brief, turned into something you can see, react to and fall in love with.

  3. Full drawings

Once you're happy with the concept, we produce the documentation your builder needs to price and build it.

  4. Build

Your builder takes it from there. We stay on hand if anything needs sorting along the way.

Builders

Need a builder?

We can refer you to one of our licensee builders.

Licensee builders are independent builders who build Design Artisan designs under their own business name, so they already know our drawings.

Already have a builder? We're happy to work alongside the one you choose.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Something else on your mind? Ask us

Do you build the home as well?

No. Design Artisan designs and documents homes. Your builder builds it. We can work with the builder you choose, or refer you to one of our licensee builders.

Do I need a builder before I contact you?

No. Plenty of clients come to us before they've chosen a builder. We'll talk through your options once the design direction is clear.

What does it cost?

Every project is different, so fees depend on its size, site and complexity. After a first conversation about your site and brief, we send a tailored proposal outlining the scope and fees.

Do you design for sloping blocks?

Yes. Sloping and challenging sites are a speciality, along with large country homesteads and acreage homes.

Do you design renovations?

Yes. We design renovations and extensions as well as new homes. Agnes Street is a recent example.

Where do you work?

Our studio is on Tamborine Mountain in South East Queensland. We design homes for clients across Australia, meeting on site or by video.
