The brief

Display home design has to win over every visitor who walks through the door. Bayview Drive was designed by Design Artisan for licensee builder Corbett Homes as their display home, designed to show visitors what a home on a sloping block can be.

The 760 square metre block slopes, with the best views to the rear and one side. The home is set to the contours, so the living areas and upper level balconies take in the outlook in more than one direction.

A display home does two jobs. It has to be a home a family would happily live in, and it has to show visitors what their builder can deliver. Good display home design gives people moments to stop and imagine, from the street appeal at the front to the way the rooms open to the view.

At Bayview Drive, a light gabled form, stone feature walls and generous balconies give the home a relaxed coastal character, with pergolas and a white picket fence carrying that feel out to the garden. The palette stays simple, so the setting and the view do the talking.
